Your care at the Lahey Health Cancer Institute (LHCI) involves much more than treatment of your cancer itself. We provide comprehensive care that includes both cancer treatments and supportive therapies, delivered simultaneously by a collaborative team of clinicians.

A Word About Palliative Care

Palliative care is not the same as hospice. Palliative care is about extending your life and mitigating your symptoms, even if your cancer is a type that cannot yet be cured.

Many people with incurable cancer can live a happy and productive life for extensive periods of time. Cancer that may not be curable today could be conquered tomorrow. The goal of our palliative care is to control your symptoms and maximize the quality of your life for as long as possible, in accordance with your own personal goals and wishes.

Survivorship Evaluation at Lahey
All Lahey Health-affiliated facilities participate in Survivorship Evaluation at Lahey (SEAL), a comprehensive cancer care program that proactively engages patients at the start of their treatment plan and on an ongoing basis throughout their survivorship. The SEAL program assesses how well patients are functioning and refers them to certain rehabilitation programs to improve their outcomes and satisfaction with treatment.
