June 16, 2016
Lowell, Mass. (June 16, 2016) — Continuing its long standing mission to enhance the health and well-being of the communities it serves, Lahey Health announced today that it has been named the official Health & Wellness sponsor of the 2016 Lowell Folk Festival. The agreement spans for five years, through the 2020 Festival, and includes sponsorship of the Dutton Street Dance Pavilion.
“We are very proud to support a renowned event like the Lowell Folk Festival,” said Howard Grant, JD, MD, President and CEO of Lahey Health. “We take very seriously our responsibility to support critical programs in the communities that we serve, and what better way to show that commitment than by partnering with the Lowell Folk Festival, the beloved Merrimack Valley summer event.”
The Lowell Folk Festival, which will be held July 29-31, is the longest running free folk festival in the United States, and is entering its 30th consecutive year of delighting audiences with its wide range of music and dance performances These performances range from traditional folk, Americana, Zydeco, bluegrass, Cuban, Native American, Irish, and western swing, among others. In 2013, The Lowell Folk Festival was received the designation as a “Premier Tourism Attraction” from the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism. This designation honors attractions across the Commonwealth that have achieved legendary status in popularity and visitation and should be on every visitors ‘must see’ list.
“We are extremely appreciative of Lahey Health’s health and wellness sponsorship of the Lowell Folk Festival for 2016 and beyond,” said Craig Gates, Executive Director of the Lowell Folk Festival Foundation. “Lahey Health recognizes the importance of historical yearly events like the Lowell Folk Festival, and we are inspired by its willingness to be a long term partner in this community.”
